What is the purpose of music at this church?
We are careful to remember that all music at our church is to bring glory to God, who is worthy of our praise. Instrumental music (keyboard, organ, guitar, handbells etc.) can express praise in a way that words cannot. The choir sings texts that coordinate with the scripture readings and message of the service.
I have a prayer request. How can I get my concern prayed for?
Four ways actually, at our Sunday service, on our telephone prayer network, and here on the website on the Prayer Requests page.
I’m an active person with many God given gifts, what groups and activities are there to take part in?
See our Groups and Activities page for all there is to offer.
What kinds of music could I expect to hear?
Our congregation sings form the Presbyterian Hymnal which contains both tradition and contemporary praise hymns.
Our choir sings a variety of traditional Christian music, including spirituals, older church classics and recent publications.
Our handbell choir plays mostly traditional Christian music.
Could I join the choir, handbell choir, or church band for just one Sunday or would I have to be a regular member?
Yes, but you’d be asked to join the group for the practices leading up to the performance.
I love music. Can I join the choir, handbell choir, or church band?
We’d love to have you join our choir, handbell choir, or church band.
Would I be paid for providing special music?
We have not budgeted for soloists, though we sometimes give a small stipend to a college student. We love to incorporate special solos, vocal and instrumental, into our worship services. The music director would be glad to work with you!
I’d like to perform a vocal or instrumental solo or duet, who do I see?
We welcome those with musical talents to express them. You would need to contact the choir director/organist. It would then have to be scheduled as we have a regular choir, handbell choir, and church band who perform on a regular basis.
