"Woman-To-Woman" a new Malawi Partnership Project

A working group is forming involving women of our congregation who are interested in establishing an "IGA" or Income Generating Activity with Presbyterian Women's Guilds of the Synod of Livingstonia in Malawi. If you are interested, we need you!

The Women's Guild in Malawi (like PW here) is trying to provide financial support for Aids orphans in their communities. Almost 300,000 children there have lost their parents to the disease and their future is very precarious. The children and their caretakers depend heavily on the support of the church to help with basic needs for clothing, nutrition and education.

Through the establishment of "Woman-To-Woman" we hope to generate funds from the sale of Malawian craft products. All proceeds from sales will go back to Malawi through the Synod to the Women's Guild earmarked for orphan care. A fund raising and educational event to generate "seed money" and interest is being planned for September. A silent dessert auction will be held in the evening in conjunction with a brief presentation and video by Malawi Visitation Team member Molly Ames.

If you are interested in getting involved in the formation of this project, we need people to help with promotional materials, marketing and other organizational activities. If you want to get involved and/or know of an opportunity for our church to present information on the recent Malawi trip and it's findings please contact Molly Ames at 379-0333 or Linda Potter at 386-4364. It is very exciting to see the interest and enthusiasm expressed by the congregation. With the energy and enthusiasm evident among us, this project has wonderful potential for our church to fulfill our commitment to international mission and help us to become true neighbors with our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world!
